Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
Still, the LORD warned both Israel and Judah through all the prophets and seers, saying, 'Turn away from your evil ways and obey my commands and laws, just as I gave them to your ancestors and sent to you through my servants the prophets.'
God is showing His patience and love by repeatedly sending prophets to warn His people to stop doing wrong and return to following His ways.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes during the period when the northern kingdom of Israel was about to be conquered by Assyria (722 BC) due to their persistent disobedience. For centuries, God had sent prophets like Elijah, Elisha, Amos, and Hosea to warn both Israel and Judah to repent and return to faithful worship of God instead of following pagan practices.
